Teapots

Start with the way you pour

Compare the handle position, lid and spout shown in each listing. A side-handle form puts the grip to the side of the pot; other designs use a loop or raised handle. Consider how you will hold the pot and steady the lid, alongside the look of the piece.

Choose a shape and design family

• Dragon Egg and pear-shaped pots offer different body outlines. Compare the product photographs for the actual silhouette.
• The Blue & White Firestone Red collection brings together floral, lotus, fortune and calligraphy designs across brewing and serving pieces.
• The Shino Cat collection includes several teapot forms. Select the named cat option if that is the decoration you want; some listings also offer a base design.

Match capacity to your tea session

Use the capacity stated for the individual piece, rather than estimating size from the photograph or a name such as Mini or Large. Allow space for the leaves and for comfortable handling. When sharing tea, compare the brewed amount with the drinking fill of your cups and any serving pitcher.

Check the selected option

Some listings offer simple packaging and gift-box packaging; others use the options to distinguish decoration. A gift-box option does not by itself mean that cups or other brewing accessories are included. Check the selected product and its included pieces before ordering.

Teapot or gaiwan?

A teapot provides a separate spout and handle for pouring. A gaiwan is a lidded bowl used to brew and decant tea. Compare both formats if you are still deciding how you want to prepare loose-leaf tea.

Complete the table

Choose tea cups and mugs for drinking or browse all teaware for coordinated pieces. These teapots are brewing vessels; a kettle shape or raised handle does not establish stovetop suitability.
